a 43-year-old woman, Shakirat Fatusi, who is also the breadwinner of a family of seven children in the Ogba Ayo.
Akande and the deceased, who have kept their distances from eachother for sometime after she allegedly mediated in a fight involving Akande and his wife, were engaged in a scuffle after he made a derogatory remarks about the deceased who he met at his wife’s shop when she came around to buy pepper around 11pm on Tuesday.
Speaking on the incident, Shakirat’s husband, Segun Fatusi, said:
“We have seven children together and she was the one catering to them. He had been having disagreements with my wife because she always asked him not to beat his wife.”
We also want to let you know that Abuse is a control issue- abusers believe they have the right to manipulate, control and humiliate another person, and this attitude is not only by men but also by some women.Confirming the incident, the Ogun State police spokesperson, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department, Eleweran, on the orders of the state Commissioner of Police.
Many at times what people hear or read about are women who in abusive relationships. When a man is a victim of his wife’s physical abuse, often times he is both ashamed by the assaults of his wife and regarded as a man that cannot control his wife. Men going through abuse hardly speak out freely like you did for fear of been seen as weaklings.
